Can we just take a minute to appreciate what an amazing person Rapunzel’s father is? We see him for just a few short sections without him talking at all and can already tell what an amazing person he is. Look at the first gif. You can FEEL how heartbroken he is because he thinks that his wife is going to die. You can see in his face how much he loves her with his whole heart and you can see that if he could somehow take her place instead, he would. He holds his wife’s hand tighter and doesn’t want her to lose that grip. He wants her here with him and he will do anything for that to happen. In the second gif you can see that he is just hoping that this magic flower will work. You can tell he’s still very concerned for his wife. His head is on the back of her head and he slowly lifts her head up and you can tell that in his mind he is thinking “Please let this work. Please. I can’t lose you. I need you,” and maybe he is thinking, “You are my dream” just like Rapunzel was Eugene’s dream. You can just tell that he is a wonderful, loving, sweet, honest man.

you know what’s really amazing about this movie is that Rapunzel’s parents don’t actually have a speaking part at all, but from reflecting on the movie the first time we saw it both me and my boyfriend could have sworn we heard them speak just a few lines. in this scene in particular:

you can see him saying how much he misses his daughter without him speaking a single word. that is amazingly expressive animation.

And can we please talk a moment about how HE was the one giving her the magical cure. It wasn’t a nursemaid, it wasn’t a court physician. You can almost imagine him shooing them all away because that is his wife, the love of his life, his dream, and whether this works or not? If he can’t be the first person who touches her when she’s well, he at least wants to be the last person holding her when she dies.

RIGHT IN THE FEELS

This man, James Verone, robbed a bank for one dollar. Why only one dollar? Because he knew that in prison he could get the medical care he could not afford with his part time salary as a convenience store clerk. He was approved for food stamps, but they did little to help his finances. Between his back problems, carpel tunnel, and arthritis, he simply couldn’t handle the pain any longer.

On June 9th, he sent a letter to his local paper, the Gaston Gazette, that stated: “When you receive this a bank robbery will have been committed by me. this robbery is being committed by me for one dollar. I am of sound mind but not so much sound body.”

He then took a cab to the RBC Bank, and handed the teller a note asking for one dollar and medical attention. He quietly took a seat in the lobby and waited for police to arrive.

Since Verone only stole one dollar, he was only charged with larceny. His bail, which he doesn’t plan to pay is set at $2,000, reduced from the normal $100,000. He’s scheduled to see a doctor this Friday, and hopes to get foot surgery, back surgery and to have a protrusion on his check treated.

To me, this is the perfect example of how disturbingly corrupt and unjust our health care system has become under HMO’s. For this man, or any person for that matter, feels that he needs to be imprisoned just to see a doctor, is ridiculous.

This is exactly what I hate about America. Why is it that you can buy an entire house with money you don’t have, but still can’t apply for health care if you don’t meet the requirements? That’s messed up.

Healthcare is ridiculously expensive. I sit around all day and bill people for it. It’s such a business it’s unbelievable.

Jesus Christ loved you so much that He died to save you, but yet you say that you aren’t loved.
